![]() Other than that Do not use range indicators. Maybe if you HAVE to use them to get used to smartcastng it's Ok, but don't get used to them and just stick with them. Yes, it makes you use abilities faster and that's very very important in the game. If that's not an issue for you, then just do what you like, but if your ping is around 100 (give or take 30 or so), using anything but SmartCast is probably hampering your game. Mind you, most of those guys live in LA, where their ping is like 15-25. I personally prefer SmartCast because it's a LOT faster, but I know that a lot of competitive players use range indicators for precision shots, and I think I heard somewhere that DoubleLift uses DumbCast. Same thing goes for DumbCasting, except you also have to factor in the time between you pressing the button and clicking your mouse, which can really mess you up if you need to use all of your abilities really quickly to survive. This means that I'm essentially playing at 150-200 ping when I use my abilities, which isn't that great. When I use range indicators, it effectively doubles the time it takes for the servers to register my actions instead of just registering a single button press, the servers have to register my button press and release. I'm usually between 75-100 ping, which means there are roughly 75-100 milliseconds between my actions on the keyboard and Riot's servers registering those actions. If you're higher ping, I definitely recommend switching to SmartCast, as it halves the amount of input required to use a skill. I find that smart cast is a lot better for single-target abilities or champs that require very fast ability combos (e.g. You can play what is essentially SmartCast most of the time, but if you really need to make sure that your opponent is at the right range or something, you can hold the button to make sure. If you have the feel of that, range indicators are a great option for champs with tough skill shots or skill shots with certain distance requirements (e.g. If you play a lot of skill shot champions, playing DumbCast is a great way to learn the ranges of their abilities without accidentally missing your enemies. I know people who play DumbCast, I personally play SmartCast, and I know people who play with range indicators (which I tried and did not like). If you're low ping, I think it's really up to what you prefer and feel most comfortable on. Not ALWAYS, but generally, yeah, SmartCasting gives you an advantage over "dumbcasters," especially if you're playing with higher ping.
